In the development and operations of toll roads, Jasa Marga is attentive to the needs of the communities within the surrounding areas where the Company operates. This attention is an integral part of Jasa Marga’s business activities and is manifested in various educational, social, environmental, and home industry support. Jasa Marga regards the communities as key stakeholders. The presence of harmonious interactions between the Company and its surrounding communities will, in turn, create conducive conditions for the continuity of the Company’s operations, while also benefiting the communities. Although Jasa Marga essentially has carried out corporate social responsibility activities that supports communities and the development of micro businesses since 1992, these activities have subsequently been made in line with the Decree of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprise-236/MBU/2003 on the Patronage Partnership and Community Development Program (PKBL), that obligates Stateowned Company (SOE) to set aside 1-3% of net profit to support communities in which they operate by providing seed capital and community-development support. The Patronage Partnership program provides seed capital and working capital loans at favorable rates to micro and home-scale industries, while the Community Development Program is a charity program that aims to improve the welfare of communities in various social aspects such as education, health care, environment, arts, culture and religious activities. Included in this category is the provision and construction of public infrastructures and facilities, places of worship and humanitarian aids to help those suffering from natural disasters.
